The Indiana Pacers have traded Paul George to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis. The premiere transaction that everybody has been talking about and theorizing over has resulted in Paul George teaming up with reigning MVP Russel Westbrook. I have to say that I am more than surprised with this deal, as it seems that both the Lakers and the Celtics could have offered much more to Indiana than what they got from OKC. Oklahoma wins quite a bit with this deal, as they get a superstar to take the load off of the leader in triple doubles last season. They only lose an offensive minded player that couldn’t really score and a young prospect that has some upside, but is not to the caliber of a Paul George.
I see this as a major loss for the Indiana Pacers, as they seemingly missed out on some great opportunities with the Celtics, as they had future draft picks and some legit players to deal, and I’m not exactly too sure what the Lakers could have offered, but the thought of a deal consisting of Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson and maybe some future picks would have seemed much more promising than the deal that just transpired.
The NBA off-season continues to bring us the unexpected, and continues to be the most interesting sports-related event this time of the year.
